Greek Independence Day Commemoration at the Statue of Demetrius Ypsilanti

Every year, AHEPA Ann Arbor Chapter 195 organizes the event to commemorate Greek Independence Day.

Hosting Organization: AHEPA Ann Arbor Chapter 195

Metropolitan Nicholas will lead Fr. Nicolaos Kotsis and other clergy in the blessing. Ypsilanti Mayor Lois Richardson will present a proclamation on behalf of the City of Ypsilanti.  AHEPANs, Parishioners of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Ann Arbor and its Greek School are normally in attendance. Yan Theros will sing the American National Anthem and Socrates Papageorgiou will sing the Greek National Anthem under the shadows of the Statue of Ypsilanti and the flags of the United States of America and Greece.

Nicholas Stamos will give a historical account of the events that happened on that day, 200 years ago. There will be speeches by AHEPA Supreme President George Horiates and a Daughter of Penelope representative. AHEPA Chapter 195 President Craig A. Theros will be the master of ceremonies.
