Greek Independence Day Program in Tarpon Springs, FL

Sponsoring Organization: Organized by the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Atlanta and is Sponsored by the Επιτροπή Παρελάσεως of Tarpon Springs, FL 

The Program will begin at the Bayou with a welcome from the Mayor Malahouzos and a Trisagion Service by His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta, followed by the Greek and American National Anthems.

The day will continue with a procession to St. Nicholas Cathedral with religious and civic leaders and children in Greek dress.

At the Cathedral, the program will include an Opening Prayer and Introduction by His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta, a Welcome from the Mayor of City of Tarpon Springs Mr. Alahouzos, a musical program, and presentations from the Consul General in Tampa, Dr. Constantine Kokenes, His Eminence Vasilios of Constantia, Cyprus,  Fr. Theophanis,  Diana Honey and various Greek Schools. 

 

At the Old City Hall

The March 25 program continues with a presentation of the Proclamation to His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios by the Mayor of Tarpon Springs  Mr. Alahouzos, lighting of the Old City Hall with the colors of the Greek Flag and a video presentation of Greece.

 

At Spanos Hall

The day events concludes with a dinner at Spanos Hall and a Welcome from the President of the Parelasis Mr. Sisois
