The Narrative of 1821 Through Old Textbooks: Working with Digital Tools

The Narrative of 1821 Through Old Textbooks: Working with Digital Tools

The Department of Greek Education will be offering a webinar Saturday, April 17, 2021 1:00 pm EST. The webinar is presented by, The Museum of School Life and Education (Μουσείο Σχολικής Ζωής και Εκπαίδευσης).

 The webinar will discuss:

  • How we make old textbooks attractive to our students.
  • How we can use them as a tool of the didactic approach of 1821.
  • Using digital tools to help us in our classrooms.

Old textbooks carry their own story, a story that is enchanting and moving but perhaps not so appealing to students. Digital tools enable alternative and innovative approaches, making them another useful tool for exploiting the teaching approach of 1821. In this seminar, after briefly reviewing the history of the textbook, we will focus on how 1821 is presented, in the texts and in the illustration of the textbooks.

In the second part of the webinar, in laboratory form, we discuss simple digital applications, such as learning apps, which allow us to work on the "old" with new, modern tools.

Presenters:

Dr. Evangelia Kantartzi, Director of the Museum of School Life and Education

Elli Lampadaridou, Museum educator, Graduate of the School of Fine Arts, Associate of the Museum of School Life and Education

The presentation will be made through the Zoom platform
