A Tribute to the Philhellene Women and the “1826 Pittsburgh Greek Relief Philhellene Committee”

The Greek-American community of Western Pennsylvania closes the chapter on its Celebration of the Bicentennial of the Greek Revolution of 1821 on the weekend of December 18, 2021. Renowned American industrialists, professionals, and clergy came together in 1826 and formed a Philhellenic Committee that raised funds for materiel as well as support for the Greek Revolutionaries. On Saturday December 18th, 2021 and at 7 PM, the as-yet unknown history of the “1826 Pittsburgh Greek Relief Philhellene Committee” will be presented virtually. Then, on Sunday, December 19th at 7 PM, the Swiss, Romanian, Italian, British, and French communities of Western Pennsylvania come together with the Greek community, virtually, to offer a tribute to the known and lesser-known Philhellene Women of those nations.

Both virtual events will be livestreamed at: https://pahellenicfoundation.org/2021/Philhellenes
