Using Art to Teach Students about the Greek Revolution

Using Art to Teach Students about the Greek Revolution

The Director of Greek Education Mr. Anastasios Koularmanis offers a webinar by The Museum of Life and Education (Μουσείο Σχολικής Ζωής και Εκπαίδευσης).

The Revolution of 1821 inspired great painters. Both Greek and foreign artists captured, in their own way, the heroes and protagonists of 1821, glorious and tragic scenes from the course of the struggle for independence. Vryzakis, Gyzis, Theofilos, Delacroix, Peter von Ess are just some of the painters who convey to us with their brushes the heroism and sacrifices of the Greeks, moving us but also stealing the love for Greece. In this webinar participants will explore and discover the secrets hidden in great works of art, while learning to interpret and observe the elements and ways of expression used by each artist. They will also discover, through selected works and examples, how they can create activities for 1821 with their students based on art.
